Overview

Patients, health professionals, and researchers all agree that good communication between health practitioner and patient is of prime importance when faced with diagnosis and treatment of illness. Most patients wish to understand as much as possible, yet the issues and emotions are often complex, and they will have their own unique way of communicating and understanding health matters. Our workshops provide the opportunity for health professionals to develop their ability to communicate well with different stakeholders, build good communication skills and habits, and leave our workshop with an increased confidence of being able to create an environment for good communication between all parties.

Our Approach

Our major focus is communication and professional engagement. Each workshop is built on extensive evidence-based research, psychological insights, and clinical expertise. Our individualised interactive scenarios allow participants to literally step inside challenging situations and explore these interactions in a safe, supportive, and educational space with professional actors and expert facilitators. PMC prides itself on delivering the highest standard of communications training to the Health professions. Our foundation is a strong commitment in research and peer-reviewed publication that is recognised by seven major teaching awards.

Options

We will endeavour to create and run a workshop that meets all of your criteria. We can provide an “off the rack” generic workshop if desired, and can also design a tailor-made workshop addressing all your specific needs. Existing programs may be adapted to your situation, or we can collaborate in producing new programs. Our goal is to ensure that the final design of the workshop creates an interesting and productive learning environment for your participants, providing them with the best educational outcome.

Formats

We provide engaging workshops based on a number of creative formats and of varying duration (3 to 4 hours in length being the most common). Main communication issues addressed within workshops include breaking bad news, open disclosure, end of life discussions, supervision and feedback, conflict, bullying, and more. We work collaboratively with a wide range of clients across the health professions, based within Greater Sydney but run workshops across Australia.
